The 5 of January two teenagers: Alan Giovani Gutierrez Contreras from the community Dios Padre and Fredy Garcia Cruz, originally from Maguey Blanco, were shot dead during a confrontation with national police forces. The shootings took place when the police opened fire on a barricade that had been erected as part of a peaceful protest at the increase in the price of petrol.

After the death of two young men from Ixmiquilpan, the governor of Hidalgo, Omar Fayad said that these deaths should not go unpunished and that the perpetrators will be brought to justice, whatever it takes.

According to Omar Fayad, Gutierrez Contreras and Garcia Cruz were two ambitious young men who were killed in a confrontation that should never have been allowed to happen.
