Eladio de Jesús Posso Espinosa, 38, was a treasurer of “Junta de Accíon Comunal de la Vereda, El Triunfo”and was murdered on 31, October, 2018 in the Municipality of Taraza, in the Bajo Cauca subregion of Antioquia Department.

The leader, had been a treasurer in this organization since 2012, and at the time he was killed he was carrying two thousands pesos with him, so the killing could be related to his job. Sources claim that Eladio was attacked and stabbed by two unidentified men.

“According to the Sumapaz observatory, so far this year, 29 human rights defenders have been murdered in the department of Antioquia, 12 of which killings have occurred in Bajo Cauca making it one of the most dangerous areas for human rights workers.”

Eladio’s family affirm that the leader hadn’t been threatened, as far as they know.
