Gabriel Muñoz Muñoz

Gabriel Muñoz Muñoz was an activist and the organizer of the presidential campaign of Gustavo Petro in the La Argentina municipality (Huila). He was killed in the evening of 26th of May. The killing took place in the Las Águilas district, 20 minutes from his home.

Muñoz was shot by unknown men who attacked the leader of the commission of the Columbia Humana in the La Argentina region.

Muños was a social leader, famous in his community for fighting against corruption particularly in relation tyo food in schools. He was also a committed water-rights activist and a member of Vemos Todo (a type of citizen overseer). Before he died he was appointed a delegate of his municipality for the presidential elections, as a representative of the Colombia Humana coalition.

Hundreds of Colombians were outraged by what they perceived as part of a plan to eliminate community leaders.
