Jorge Jimy Celis

Jorge Jimy Celis was a man dedicated to his role as a community leader in Colinas del Tunal, and  helped with the provision of water and electricity to his neighbours. His family are shocked and saddened by the news of his death, as he was not known to have any enemies and was a valued member of the community.

On the evening of the 17 January 2018, Jorge was shot three times by a hooded man while standing on the porch at the front of his house. The man, who had previously been seen watching Jorge Jimy’s house, was later arrested. Jorge Jimy was one of 3 community leaders murdered in less than 48 hours in Antioquia, Córdoba and Cúcuta
