Maritza Yuliana Garcia Vinasco, 24, was the leader of Casas de los Sueños Foundation and Malabareando las Calles which helped young people on the streets who are struggling with drug addictions or are victims of sexual exploration. She was an inspiration for the people that she helped because she had had a very similar experiences in her life. Maritza herself had spent 3 years living on the streets and using drugs before she decided to dedicate her time to others in the same situation.

On September 21 2017, Maritza was at her front door getting the keys from her bag when she was shot several times in the head. It is not known who murdered Maritza, however, her mother claims that she was threatened just one day before her death.  Unfortunately, no one has been arrested for the heinous crime.
