Ofelia Espinoza De Lopez

Ofelia Espinoza De Lopez, 72, was the treasurer of the Community Action Board of La Guaira. On October 8 2017, She was murdered alongside her husband Miguel Ángel Cardona Zapata and a worker Gustavo de Jesús López Moncada. All three of the victims were found stabbed to death in the store that Ofelia owned.

It is believed that the robbers thought that there may have been money around the house or in the shop from the Action Board treasury. It was also reported in El Diario that the house was turned upside down in disorder and a bag of coins was found at the scene. According to family members, there were no known threats against the couple.
