The leader of the Afrodescendant Community in Barbacoas, Nariño, was shot dead on September 24, 2014. Pedro Augusto´s cousin, Deputy Diego Angulo, denounced in the House of Representatives that Pedro Augusto had suffered from several threats and intimidation before his killing.
