Robinson Ávila Ortiz

Robinson Ávila Ortiz, 38 years old and a native of the municipality of Algeciras, was murdered on January 29, 2016.

The event was recorded at 8:05 pm, on the Jorge Eliecer Aitán neighborhood of his hometown, where people from the community found the body of Ávila Ortiz on the road, after being shot three times by two men on a motorcycle.

Although Robinson no longer had vital signs, he was taken on a motorcycle to the local hospital, where his death was confirmed.

Ávila Ortiz, who was a communal leader of the Bajo Quebradón de Algeciras, had been captured in 2011, along with doctor Alexander Moreno Córdoba and seven other local people, who were victims of a judicial assembly in which they were allegedly accused of belonging to the ‘Teófilo Forero Castro’ mobile column of the Farc; However, the leader was free, after several adjournments of the oral hearing and in which multiple irregularities have been reported to the authorities.

Ávila was still in court proceedings, where he was accused of the crime of aggravated conspiracy to commit extortion.

Robinson was engaged in community leadership work in marginal neighborhoods of Algeciras – Huila.
