A member of the Pastoral Land Commission, identified as Valdemir Alves Resplandes dos Santos, was shot dead last Wednesday, 10 January 2018, in the Alto Bonito neighbourhood, located in the rural area of ​​Anapu, south west of Para.

According to information from the Civil Police of Pará, the crime occurred around 7 pm, when two men  on a motor bike approached Valdemir, who was also on a motorcycle with his nephew on the pillion seat.

One of the criminals got off the bike and stood in front of Valdemir’s motorcycle, ordering the victim to stop. Meanwhile, the second criminal went behind the bike and knocked down the his nephew. Soon after, Valdemir took the first shot in the back and fell to the ground.

Other shots were then fired at Valdemir. After the execution, the defendants fled the scene. Police investigations were carried out on the day of the crime and more than two witnesses were interviewed.

According to the Civil Police, the staff on duty at the Anapu police station, under the command of the delegate Dyego Araújo, went to the scene and looked for the witnesses who had most contact with Valdemir. According to the information received from the Civil Police of Pará. the victim was a member of the Union of Rural Workers of Anapu.
