Mukesh Dube was an RTI activist who was found murdered in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on the morning of Tuesday, 11 December. Mukesh was 32 years old, he originally hails from Mainpuri district of West UP and he was found dead in the jungles of Matkora area by the residents of Ghuraiya Basial village.

The police said that Dube was brought to the jungle by the perpetrators and he was murdered after being hit with heavy objects, including a baseball hat. The Morena district superintendent Aditya Pratap Singh told the New Indian Express that it was a clear-cut case of murder and that section 302 of the IPC has been lodged against unidentified accused. Further investigation on Dube revealed that he had been filing RTI applications particularly to figure out the irregularities in Village panchayats of Morena district. This caused him to make several enemies.

The police have said that they have managed to get the vital clues regarding the killing and that they are currently looking into the matter for more answers.
