Ancizar Ruiz

Anzibar Ruiz Ceballos, defended the rights of the people affected by the violence of the illegal armed groups. His body was found dead without any signs of violence, on the 20KM stretch of road between Calarcá and Cajamance.

His family had declared him missing days before he was found. The autopsy determined that his death had occurred on September 19, 2014, days before his body was discovered.

Ruiz Ceballos had been threatened by “Los Urabeños” at least 15 days before his death through text messages and emails, according to his family members.

He was a member of the “Marcha Patriotica” movement and was a candidate for the House of Representatives for the Partido Alianza Verde.

The Red de Iniciativas por la Paz coordinator, Jhon Salinas, condemned the crime, “He disappeared just after the march for peace. Us, as an organization that promotes human rights, reject and denounce the great number of threats and killings that the people of Quindía are experiencing” he said
