Gustavo Sánchez López, 53, was a teacher in a secondary school in zone 49 in Simojovel. He was a member of the Democratic State Assembly and was also a member of the National Coordinating Committee of Education Workers (CNTE for its Spanish acronym). He disappeared on 11 April 2018 and was found dead on 17 April. It appeared to be an extrajudicial killing.
The CNTE has demanded that this murder be investigated fully and that it does not go unpunished.
