On 26 September, 2018, Herminio Dovigama Leiva, an Indigenous leader Jaibaná (traditional doctor)of the Alto Orito Reservation, was murdered by unknown people. The killing took place in Orito Municipality, Putumayo department.
The information was documented by “Somos Defensores”, which published the annual report of 2018 dedicated to the social leaders murdered in that year.
