Leidy Viviana Trompeta, was a member of the Indigenous Guard of the Nasa Kuesh Kiwe in the village of Bellavista in Orito, Putumayo. She was also a member of the Programa Nacional Integral de Sustitución de Cultivos de uso Ilícito (National Programme for the Substitution of Illicit Crops) -PNIS.
On 9 June, 2020, Leidy, a mother of two young children; was found strangled in her home.
It is believed that the perpetrator is her ex partner whom she had previously reported to the police for domestic violence.
