Community leader and engineer Anderson Ramiro Gómez Herrera worked for six years on the formulation and presentation of projects with the Community Action Boards of the surrounding villages of La Macarena in Meta.

Although the engineer was not affiliated with any particular board, he was its right hand man and for that reason people knew him as the engineer of the Community Action Boards.

Among the projects he carried out were several works on the road from La Macarena to San José del Guaviare, which were carried out by the same communities while he was supervising them, in addition to promoting other projects with the CABs in Las Delicias and in the Llanos del Yarí.

The Killing & Investigation

On April 11 in La Macarena, Meta, on the way back to the municipality was murdered by gunfire.

The victim identified as Anderson Ramiro Gómez Herrera, who belonged to a road construction company in the area, was killed while walking between the Campo Hermoso and Las Delicias paths.

According to reports, the assailant who attacked him came out on the track wearing a hood and without a word, hit Herrera in the chest and then fled the scene.

The local hospital sent an ambulance to the point where Gomez Herrera was found without any vital signs.

There are no known threats against him, but the engineer was well known in the sector because he travelled all over the rural area; the murder is already under investigation and until now, the attackers are still unknown.

The murder of the civil engineer was rejected by the locals, by whom he was recognized for supporting their community development projects.
