Brenda Viviana was run over on 26 April 2017 when she was participating in a demonstration in front of the National School of Commercial Sciences Number 2. The students were demonstrating for improvements for the school.

According to the public prosecutor, the driver of the car, Jabes Emanuel Meda Maldonado, “irrationally” tried to avoid the blockade created by the students and used his car as a weapon against the students.

Brenda Viviana suffered serious injuries to both her legs and her right arm and was taken to Hospital Roosevelt.

After three days in hospital, her condition deteriorated and despite the efforts of the medical team, she passed away due to the seriousness of her injuries.
