Carlos Trujillo Paz, 37, was shot dead on 24, October, 2018, in Cauca Department (Rosas Municipality),  when unknown men aboard on a motorcycle ambushed him and opened fire.

The mayor, Jesus Eduardo Diaz Rios, stated that Carlos was well known  in the community because of his support in social, fitness and cultural activities in the locality where he lived.

The organization called “La Asociación de Usuarios Campesinos de Rosa “, issued a statement condemning Carlos’ death.

It was unknown if the leader had been receiving threats before his death. His brother, William Trujillo Paz, another community leader,  stated that:

“He led sports activities in the area and was a real community representative. As far as we know, he hadn’t received any threats or had enemies, because he never told us anything, neither to his brothers, nor to his wife, or daughter”.
