Members of the Block of Anticapitalist Social Organisations denounce the murder of Gustavo Cruz Mendoza, member of the Popular Indigenous Council of Oaxaca “Ricardo Flores Magón” (CIPO-RFM) in the community of Cerro Caliente, in the Municipality of Santiago Jocotepec.
At a press conference, they demanded that this case not go unpunished, so they ask the relevant authorities to prioritise this case. In the same Chinantec community, the leader of the National Peasant and Indigenous Union (NICU) Carlos Mendoza Ramos, was reported as disappeared since the night of Sunday, January 20.
Mendoza Ramos was in his home when armed people broke in and took him by force to an unknown destination. The NICU complained that “a paramilitary group that keeps the population in that area terrorised by robberies, assassinations and general violence, showed up at the home of Carlos Mendoza Ramos. Assaulting his family, they asked about him and Gorgonio Mendoza Ramos. They took Carlos and later killed Gustavo Cruz. “
