Víctor Alfonso Zabala Ovierdo, president of the Community Action Board of the village of El Rizo, was murdered on 25/03/2018. He died a few minutes before another social leader, Víctor Alfonso Zabala Oviedo, also murdered in the same municipality of Caucasia, Antioquia. Victor Alfonso was part of the local branch of a federal programme created to replace illicit crops in postwar Colombia. This particular branch is located in one of the 20 rural territories of Bajo Cauca where 2,400 people were displaced by clashes between armed groups.

“The community informed us that they are very scared and therefore do not want to offer details,” said the coordinator of the non-profit organization Nodo Antioquia, Yesid Zapata.
