Victor Manuel Rodríguez Paz was a well-known teacher, writer and human rights activist.
He was a committed environmental activist and had also taken part in protests against the coup, organised by the Frente Nacional de Resistencia Popular (National Front of Popular Resistance), (FNRP).
On 6 March, 2020, Rodríguez Paz was driving through the area of Llano del Conejo, in Santa Bárbara when another car pulled up alongside and the gunmen opened fire hitting his car more than 20 times. He died at the scene.
At the time of writing more than 40 teachers had been killed in Honduras since 2009.
