45 year old Freiman Baicué was a father of five children and a resident of the village of Las Guacas. He was a member of the Peasant Guard, the Association of Peasant Workers in the Peasant Reserve Zone of the Municipality of Corinto.

The Network of Human Rights of the Colombian Southwest, “Francisco Isaías Cifuentes”, reported that the two people murdered in the urban area of Corinto , were members of the peasant guard.
The organization stated that Freiman Baicué and Uver Ney Villano were eating in the center of the town, when two armed men approached on board a motorcycle and without saying a word, shot them several times.
Social organizations in the north of Cauca condemned the murder of the two peasant human rights defenders of and members of the Association of Peasant Workers in the Peasant Reserve Zone of the municipality of Corinto (Astrazonas).
Andrés Martínez, president of the Astrazonac, pointed out that Freiman Baicué and Uver Ney Villano were in the center of Corinto and, while they were eating food, they were approached by two armed men aboard a motorcycle and shot. They ere puzzled because there were no threats, they are people who accompanied them all the time.
“The municipality has been the epicenter of systematic threats, supposedly, by the Colombian Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces and the Black Eagles, against the lives of human rights defenders and members of social organisations,” Martínez said.
The authorities in Cauca reported that an investigation is being carried out into whether the double homicide is related to the crimes perpetrated against social leaders in the region.

The inhabitants of Corinto called on Governor Óscar Campo to take measures to help guarantee the safety and life of the peasants and the Human Rights Network asked the competent authorities to investigate the facts and find the whereabouts of those responsible.
