Harlin David Rivas Ospina

On 30 November 2020, community youth leader and environmentalist Harlin David Rivas Ospina was shot dead in the Yesca Grande area of Quibdó, in el Chocó. The killing took place early in the morning when 2 gunmen travelling on a motor bike walked into the electrical shop where he was working and without saying a word shot him multiple times.

Harlin was studying Environmental Engineering in the Universidad Tecnológico del Chocó and was also an active member of Red Nacional Jovenes de Ambiente.

The killing of Harlin brought to 262 the number of community leaders killed in Colombia up to the end of November 2020.
