Juan José Hernández Alchino

Juan José Hernández Alchino, a teacher and member of Section 22 of the CNTE (National Coordination of Education Workers), was murdered on the morning of 30 March 2017 in the centre of Pinotepa Nacional on the Oaxacan coast. The 38-year-old teacher was on his motorbike when he was intercepted and shot on 5A South street in the 5 de Mayo neighbourhood, one block away from his home. Juan José taught English and physical education.

The leader of Section 22, Eloy López Hernández, said “We demand that the state government carries out an investigation into this crime because teachers are being murdered for being combative.”
