Julio Andrés Pineda Díaz

Julio Andrés Pineda Díaz was a lawyer who worked in the Mayor’s office in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Yojoa.

On 4 September, 2020, his body, showing signs of torture, was found dumped in a street in the area of El Olvido. He had been disappeared several days previously. His hands were tied and apart from stab wounds he had been shot twice in the head.

He was a member of the international organisation “Mundo sin Guerras y sin Violencia” and was one of the main organisers of a March for Peace which demonstrated in many of the main cities in the region.

He had planned to stand for election as the Honduras delegate for the organisation.
