Source Analisis Urbano

At 3 in the morning of Monday, July 2, 2018, in the Las Pavas neighborhood of the municipality of Tarazá, Bajo Cauca, in Antioquia, Leonedis Aleiser Sierra Ortiz, 25, was murdered, a member of the San Agustín Bajo Community Action Board , corregimiento of El Guáimaro, of Tarazá.

Armed men shot him and left him badly injured. He was transferred to a medical center, where he died three hours later.

His family claimed the body and transferred it to the corregimiento of Santa Rita, Ituango, North of Antioquia, where he was originally from, to bury him.

Thus continues the relentless and cruel murder of social leaders, community and human rights defenders in the department of Antioquia,  which is exacerbated by the negligence of the Colombian State.

Urban Analysis and Corpades lament and condemn this killing and call on the state to organise an effective  presence in the areas affected by the armed conflict, to support the work of the Community Action Boards, to urgently implement the necessary measures to protect leaders, organizations and communities that defend human rights and promptly and diligently initiate the respective investigations that allow the identification and prosecution of the perpetrators of crimes committed against social and community leaders, human rights defenders and ex-combatants of the FARC.
