Libardo Rosero Delgado

Libardo Rosero Delgado was a community leader and former council member in Piamonte, Cauca. He worked to promote the development and well being of the community of Las Palmeras where he lived and strongly opposed the activities of the criminal groups involved in drug trafficking and illegal mining.

On 6 August, 2020, he was intercepted by armed men, as he was driving through the area and shot multiple times. According to eye witnesses Libardo tried to escape but was shot several times as he fled. He died instantly and his body was dumped in the Inchiyaco river on the border between Cauca, Caquetá and Putumayo.

It is believed that his murder was carried out by members of the ELN who are waging a war against other dissident criminal groups for control of the drug trade.
