Narda Barchilón

Women’s rights activist of the Community of Women of the Neighbourhood of Villaluz and ORG support, Narda Barchilón was shot dead in her home on the 22 June 2017 in Arauca, Colombia.

Narda, also known as Coco Peorro, was only 35 years old at the time. She was at home having dinner with her husband and two children of 5 and 15 years old when two unknown men arrived by motorcycle and broke into her house. They shot her until she died and wounded her husband in his leg, however, he made a recovery. Her two children were unharmed but they had to witness the violent act that killed their mother.
