Omar Moreno Ibagué was a well respected community leader and member of the sindicato de trabajadores agrícolas independientes del Meta (Union of Independent Farm Workers of Meta).
On 28 December, 2020, Omar was travelling in a community taxi from the village of Llorente in Tumaco, towards Pasto in the department of Nariño, when he was intercepted by two men on motorbikes who forced him to get out of the taxi and took him with them. Some time later his body was found, showing clear signs of torture.
It is believed that the killing was carried out by an armed criminal group called OLIVER SINISTERRA who circulated videos and photographs of the torture to which Omar was subjected.
Two members of the armed group, Robert Antonio Rivadeneria Sevillano, alias Antiny and Jean Weiner Hernández, alias Cali, have been arrested and charged with the killing.
