Yeison Ramírez

Yeison Ramiréz was a community leader, well known for his work in the field of farmer’s rights in the Valle de Guamuez region, south of the Putumayo.

He was killed on the 11th of June 2018. Yeison was shot several times when he was shopping with his wife at a gas station in La Yet town.

Police and the National Army are investigating the case, trying to establish the motive and the perpetrators, but nothing has been established yet. The local community believes that the murder might have been connected with Yeison’s work in farmers’ rights.
