In facts that are the subject of investigation by the authorities, a 36-year-old farmer was killed by unknown gunmen. Everything happened in the San Isidro village of the Peneya Union, in the municipality of La Montañita, north of Caquetá

The incident occurred around 12:00 noon on Tuesday 03 July 2018. David Mejía Prieto, the victim, was travelling on board his motorcycle through the town, when he was surprised by two men who were travelling on another motor bike, and who without a word, shot him repeatedly.

After the attack, David fell to the ground with serious wounds, which caused him to die at the scene, without being taken to a health center. For now the motives of this new bloody act are unknown.

David had been president of the Community Action Board of Providencia in the Virgen del Carmen settlement of that town. The community of Cartagena del Chaira and surrounding sectors require the competent authorities to carry out the appropriate investigation that will lead to the identification and subsequent capture of those responsible.
