Ibes Trujillo Contreras, prominent social leader, was abducted from his farm by two men and a woman at 2PM on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. With him was a young man who was also abducted, but set free a few hours later. A week after, on Monday, July 17, Ibes was found dead on the shore of river Marilópez with several bullet wounds.

Ibes was an active member of several social organisations. After the Naya massacres, Ibes started getting involved in the defense of human rights. He decided to get close to the victims to find out the kind of help they needed and how it could be achieved. And so, Renacer Siglo XXI, one of the first organizations for the advocacy of human rights in Cauca, was created. He also co-founded and directed Brisas del Río Agua Blanca Audacia, a community owned company dedicated to coffee and plantain crops. In addition to this, Ibes was an active member of the Consejo Comunitario of the Timba Marilópez River Basin and the Coordinación Nacional de Organizaciones y Comunidades Afrodescendientes (Conafro). He was also a strong supporter of illegal-crop substitution programmes. Reportedly, he served as mediator between militaries and communities when that was needed.
