On the 3rd of June, 2017, 17-year-old Mohammad Kheir Othman was shot dead while exiting a sports stadium in Breiqa district in Yemen’s capital of Aden.
The shooter is unknown, however is suspected to be salafists affiliated with Salafist Imam al-Nubi that seek to violently oppress those that are considered in opposition to its more extremism social and religious conservatism.
Mohammad Kheir Othman was an active advocate for the freedom of religious expression, a contentious issue in a politically and militarily volatile Yemen.
