On March 26, 2015, members of the ALAMARA Paramilitary group killed Songkok Asero, 45 years old and his daughter Diane, 20 years old. When Diane was still 15 years old, one of the killers, Mando Lumogtan, wanted to marry her through an arranged marriage. Diane was a minor then, so she rejected the offer. Mando became mad because of the rejection and threatened to kill Diane and her family.
The Lugmotan brothers — Mando, Rodel, Manggot, Labyan, and Romy — acquired guns when they became members of the ALAMARA paramilitary group under the 60th Infantry Battalion. On March 26, 2015, the Lugmotan brothers went to the house of Songkok and sought out the family for revenge. The Lugmotan brothers fired at and killed Songkok and Diane. The rest of the family escaped.
Songkok and Diane were members of indigenous people’s organization KARADYAWAN. The organization campaigns for the the pullout of military troops from the community and the disbandment of paramilitary groups.
