Ernesto Castañeda, was the leader of the Junta de Acción Comunal de la Esperanza. He died in an armed attack outside his home. Family members commented that Ernesto, had an argument with the murderer earlier.
The family members also stated that they suffer from persecution and fear because the murderers know who they are and where they live and haven’t been sentenced yet.
On April 30, 2014, after a major prosecution, the local police arrested 2 of the alleged murderers of Ernesto Castañeda.
The Junta de Acción Comunal, are civic organizations that promote citizen participation and were created with the objective of contributing to the peace process in Colombia.
