Jennifer López, better known among friends as Campanita, was murdered during the night of the 20th of May 2017 on her own home in Ometepec, Guerrero state, Mexico. The 20 years old, was attacked on the neck with a sharp object, causing her an almost instant death.
Campanita was a local transgender activist who was actively involved on the defence of the human rights of LGBTTTI people.
“Campanita was a peaceful soul who worked as a hair stylist and beauty therapist. We urge the authorities to clarify and solve this case. The death of Jennifer cannot be given impunity; stop homophobic and transphobic killings” declared Victoria Galarza, head of Centro de Capacitación Cultural y de Derechos Hunanos Diversidad y Género A. C.
