In the morning hours of January 1 2019 the body of an individual, aged between 30 and 35 was found in the street. The body showed several wounds in different parts of the body, which was found on the side of the road that leads to La Macarena in the municipality of San Vicente del Caguán. The victim was identified as community leader Luis Ángel Peña.

The facts

According to unofficial sources the incident took place late on December 31 or in the early hours of 1 January 2019 near the area known as the crossing of the tubes. It appears that the victim was traveling on a high powered white motorcycle and was found by passers-by on the side of the road. They gave notice to the authorities who were responsible for the removal of the body.

There are two possible explanations for his death. The first indicates that the victim was been killed with a “machete” type of weapon, resulting in injuries to his lower extremities, neck, and skull.

Alternatively it could possibly have been an accident.

However robbery was apparently not a motive because at the time of the crash he had more that half a million pesos in cash on him.
