The National Police reported that on the night of Wednesday 01 August a man identified as Valentín Rúa Tezada was murdered. He worked as the announcer for the Salvajina Estéreo radio station in the municipality of Suárez, northwest of Cauca.

The authorities reported that the events occurred in the Los Almendros neighborhood, about three blocks from the station, where a man shot him and ended the life of the communicator. As reported by ‘La W’.

The mayor of Suárez, Hernando Ramírez, confirmed that about 8:30 at night the announcer was in his house and received a call. When he left he was attacked and shot.

Harold Ambuila, director of Salvajina Estéreo, lamented the loss of this man, whom he considered “the star” of that station, where he enjoyed appreciation and recognition.

“He had two programs, one from 8 to 12 and another from 5 to 7 at night. He was the star of the station, ”he said.

He also said they do not know the reasons for the murder, nor did they know about threats for their work in the media.
