Jefferson Marcelo Nascimento de Oliveira, 41 year old,  president of «Associação de Moradores de Madureira» located in the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, was murdered on 30 December, 2017.

The community leader was well known due to his leadership and in addition, he worked with children and their environment.

Exactly three days before Jefferson’s body was found, he was kidnapped by unknown people.  Afterwards,  when the body was first examined there was clear evidence of strangulation.

According to the news Agency  called Band he had been beaten weeks previously in a separate incident in the local fire station.

On 2017, December, Jefferson reported to the authorities that in addition to receiving extortion threats he had also been receiving death threats. After making his statement, a number of policemen started to watch him at his workplace and they, finally, forced the leader to stop his professional activity.
