Olmedo Jiménez Guamanga was a member of the Integration Committee of the Macizo Colombiano.
On the morning of 9 April 2014, Jiménez Guamanga was intercepted at 8:30 in the morning by three men dressed in camouflage and wearing hoods, who shot him three times. He was taken to the University Hospital San José de Popayán, where he died the following Friday.
He was one of the leaders of the community who sought to consolidate areas of peasant reserves. He was also promoting, the development of an area in La Tuna, which is currently declared as a reserve, to allow the installation of a mobile telephone network, but which was opposed by various indigenous communities who were demanding their right to prior consultation.
