LGBTI activist Alessandro Bráulio Matos Fraga, also known as Alex Fraga, was found dead on Saturday 13 of April 2019 in Simões Filho, in the metropolitan area of Salvador.

Alex, as he was known, was former president and founder of the Gay Group of Lauro de Feitas. His body was found in a thicket in the locality of Pedreira, between Simões Filho and Areia Branca, in Lauro. His car, a Volkswagen Fox, was found about 100 meters from the body. Relatives and friends said the victim was found with marks of shooting, strangulation and blows to the head.

Alex’s family have said that he was shot.

The police are currently gathering information on the murder.

On April 12, Alex’s friends posted on social media that he had gone missing and the following day his body was found.

Alex studied psychology and was a public servant in the city council of Lauro de Freitas. He was the coordinator of the Counselling and Testing Centre in that area.
