Alexander Castellano Triana, aged 35, was the president of a Junta de Acción Communal in Cartagená del Chairá and the vicepresident of the Asociación Campesina of Caquetá. He was shot several times by masked men on a motorcycle when he and his wife were on their way to a meeting with the Mayor and various environmental organisations.
Alexander was leading investment projects for families that are located in remote and deforested areas in Cartagena del Chairá, and recently he had started to look for governmental support. He was also leading projects related to the protection of the environment.
