Miguel Santos, a teacher and member of the Movement for Triqui Unification and Struggle (MULT for its Spanish acronym), was murdered on Wednesday 7 November 2018 after being ambushed in the San Miguel Copala community. The physical education teacher, who was 38 years old, was on his way to work in the San Miguel Copala primary school in Juxtlahuaca when he was intercepted by unidentified men who shot him.
Miguel was from San Miguel Copala and was appointed as municipal agent the previous year. He was a social activist in the area.
According to the social organization, at least 25 members of MULT have been murdered in the last 6 years.
