Imad Mohammad Nihad al Droubi

Imad came from Homs city. The SNHR documented that members of the Syrian regime’s Military Security forces arrested him on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, while he was passing through one of their checkpoints in Homs city, known as al Mahatta checkpoint (the station), and he was classified as forcibly disappeared throughout the period of his detention. The SNHR registered his disappearance at the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances.

On Saturday, June 20, 2015, his family learned of his death in a detention center when they visited the Military Police headquarters in Damascus city. The regime forces did not hand over his body to his family, nor did they inform them of the death when it happened or give them any other details and information.

Imad al Droubi, a lawyer, was known for his defense of human rights and for his tireless defense of prisoners of conscience referred to the Terrorism Cases Court by Syrian Regime forces. He was arrested for the first time on September 1, 2011, in the judicial compound in Homs city, and was released on January 17, 2012. Imad, who was married, was born in 1971.
