Zarema Sadulayeva was a Russian children’s activist and head of the aid organization, Let’s Save the Generation, based in Chechnya. Her organization works with UNICEF to aid Chechen children affected by the violence that has swept the Caucasus region since the 1990s. The charity provides psychological counselling and physical aid to orphans, disabled children, and others affected by the wars in Chechnya. In August 2009, Sadulayeva and her husband, Alek Dzhabrailov, were found dead.
Sadulayeva and Dzhabrailov were first kidnapped from their office by gunmen wearing camouflage uniforms on August 9, 2009. The next day, they were found in the trunk of their car, shot to death. These deaths reflect a similar kidnapping and murder of human rights activist Natalia Estemirova in Chechnya in July 2009.
