Almir Silva dos Santos, 46 years old, the president of Vila do Funil neighborhood association, was shot to death inside his own house and in front of his family on July 08, 2016.
According to the police, Almir was killed because of his work to enable the construction of a bridge between Vila do Funil and the neighbor community of Tibirizinho. The construction of the bridge was against the interests of the local drug dealers because it would facilitate the entrance of the police into the community.
The killers were identified and condemned for the crime, but the residents of Vila do Funil are still afraid of the influence the drug dealers have in the area.
