This Thursday (31 January) Jorge Herney Castrillón Gutierrez was disappeared and subsequently found dead with multiple gun shot wounds.

In addition to his work as a human rights defender,Jorge Herney  had businesses related to papaya and rubber. He had also been nominated as a candidate for mayor of the municipality. The social leader disappeared on Wednesday, January 30. His murder was committed at night. The body was found in a paddock of a farm in the corregimiento Mejor Esquina, located in the rural area of ​​the municipality of Buenavista.

The technical inspection of the body was carried out by the CTI staff of the Attorney General’s Office. Relatives had alerted the authorities to his disappearance.

Análisis Urbano had reported on January 8 that a large heavily armed group of Los Caparrapos, had entered the urban area of ​​the municipality, creating an armed presence and painting the walls of some buildings with the insignia: « BVPA, present in Ure » which refers to the dissident unit, Virgilio Peralta Arenas, of the Gaitanista Autodefensas of Colombia (AGC), with whom they are fighting for the military and social control of the Antioqueño Bajo Cauca and the south of Córdoba.
