Miguel Ceballos was a renowned social and community leader. He was a spokesperson for human rights and was a member of the San Isidro Community Action Board. He also worked in illegal crop substitution with the community and was a representative for land restitution. He was murdered on 21 October in his home located in a rural area of the municipality of La Montañita, Caquetá.
Octavio Collazos, vice president of the Human Rights Committee of Caquetá and social leader said, « Miguel Ceballos was the treasurer of the San Isidro Community Action Board, he was also a peasant leader, he fought for land restitution, he was a human rights representative and we are saddened that these cases keep happening in our country and in our region ».
