Last Friday (08/24/2018) in a rural area of ​​the department of Caquetá, community leader Héctor Fabio Montoya Orjuela, a native of the municipality of Cartago, was murdered along with his wife Yudi Paola García Montañas, when they were returning to their place of residence in Florencia

This latest bloody killing took place at 6:30 pm in the sector known as Matiki Bridge, where their motorbike was intercepted by two unidentified individuals who were also travelling by motorbike.

According to witness reports, the hit men took advantage of the fact that Montoya Orjuela had to slow down and seized the moment to shoot him and his wife repeatedly. The hit men fled from the scene to the town center.

Inhabitants of the sector took the couple to the facilities of the María Inmaculada hospital, where Yudi Paola arrived alive, but minutes later she died due to the severity of her injuries; Héctor Fabio died at the scene, since most of the injuries he received were to the head.

Yudi Paola was a Public Accounting student at the University of the Amazon, and will be remembered among her classmates as a very dedicated and exemplary woman.

It should be remembered that the couple had left the municipality of Carthage because of threats, and since then with great effort they had formed another headquarters of the Nuevo Amanecer Foundation in the City of Florencia.

Relatives of the victims have called on the authorities to carry out a rigorous investigation so that this latest killing does not remain unresolved, like so many others.
