The Killing & Investigation

The killing occurred on January 26, in the early morning hours in the Mundo Nuevo district, Los Samanes sector, in the municipality of El Tarra, Norte de Santander.

María Ortega was murdered by her ex-partner, who in the early hours of Saturday entered her home and stabbed her.

Although the Ortiz was immediately taken to the hospital, she died from the severity of the six wounds to her chest and arms as a result of the brutal attack.

Menco Pabueno turned himself in to the police, claiming that he was in a state of drunkenness at the time of the events; however, the Prosecutor’s Office charged him with the crime of femicide. He was sent to prison with a detention order, following a request made by the Public Prosecutor’s Office to a judge in charge of safeguards.
