On 27 April, 2020, Jairo de Jesús Jiménez Isaza was shot dead in his home in the municipality of Abejorral in Antioquia.
Jairo was an academic and union leader known for his goodness and dedication to his job as Director of the Institución Educativa Rural “Zoila Duque Baena” (Rural Institute of Education « Zoila Duque Baena ») in the community of Chagualal.-
He was dedicated to promoting access for all to quality education and was also an active member of Unión Sindical de Directivos Docentes del Departamento De Antioquia (Union of Headmasters of Antioquia) -USDIDEA. The main suspect in the case is alleged to have died in circumstances which are still under investigation.
